‘On Grief and Hope’ [visual poetry] by Hester Chatterton

Hester Chatterton is an Edinburgh-based erasure poet whose work begins with what has already been written. Using second-hand baby, parenting and pregnancy books, objects once meant to guide others into parenthood, she searches for the poetry hidden between their lines. Through erasure poetry and collage, she retells the story of her own infertility and childlessness: ten years shaped by longing, miscarriage, IVF, donor sperm, illness and ultimately the decision to step away from the pursuit of motherhood.
